Leesa- I am also concerned about what is happening to our country. Since you wrote your Blog the stock market has crossed the 10,000 mark again as unemployment as risen above 10%. Firing people increases companies earnings relative to their sales so…

My bad....... your post sparked a thought in my head so I put it down not as if I really made any great bold statements..... I will refrain from such in the future.

I don't think illegals getting loans is a big part of the problem. It is the guy down the street that figured they could cash in after a year or two of living a bit over their means in their house that helped cause this problem. That, and the bank p…

You started out by stating, "I'll be honest I didnt read the whole post because I saw the part about . . . ." Did you realize you are talking about the third sentence into the post. Rob, if you are a Republican, you sort of give the Reps a bad name.…

I'm totally with you on the idea that a lot of the banks probably didn't care quite so much whether people could really qualify for the loans or not when they were just going to offload them on someone else. That combined with the government and oth…

Tea Party Tax Protest

I was all set to write about the Tea Party Tax Protest that will be occurring today, and after a while, I thought, "Will it really matter?"

Right now, we are spending future generations into the poorhouse, and we really don't care as long as we have the cash to keep the cable on, pay for text messages, or purchase $600 shower curtains.

President Obama said something yesterday about us no longer being able to spend, spend, spend in government, but I guess that does not include the healthcare re… Continue

It's the Economy, Stupid

I don't really know what is going on with the economy. I mean, you can watch The Real News, and they say one thing.

Anyway, The Real News has an interesting take on the economy. I think they got it a bit wrong. I mean, sure, there are different reasons for what is happening to our economy, but let's look at the housing market for a moment.

We have banks who are lending money to people, but as soon as the loans are out there, they… Continue

Shutting Down Gitmo

I saw that President Obama did a couple of things regarding the War on Terrorism last week, the most publicized being to shut down Gitmo. Oh, and I think it is cool that you can see all Executive Orders here.

Now, I sort of find it interesting that I really think they ought to shut down Gitmo. I have no basis for making that judgment. I have ne… Continue

It's the Economy Stupid

Was it Carl Marx or Bill Clinton that said, "It's the Economy Stupid"? Bill said it during the 1992 presidential election process, but what he failed to say was that American presidents don't control economic policy. Not really.

I was thinking about the economy today as I was thinking about Christmas presents this year. Our household has not felt the sting of unemployment – both my husband and I have earned more each year for t… Continue

$700 Billion Mistake: Won't Help Foreclosures

A few weeks ago, I wrote something about the $700 Billion Bailout. I was driving to work one morning last week, and I heard something about how the first chunk of change was going to help people fend off foreclosure. Now, perhaps the money will help loosen up some business credit, but I would like to dispel any notion of this money helping struggling homeowners.

I mean, most of the people who have their houses near disclosur… Continue
